 As I end this semester of college I really start to think about my future and what I plan to do this summer. I work as a server at night and a bar in my hometown, but I wanted to do something that somewhat related to what I want to do with my future. Being in the Architecture program it is hard to get jobs in that field when you don't have your degree yet. So doing internships can be helpful as well as just making yourself as prepared as you can be for your upcoming years!

Along with serving this summer I plan to start selling some of my artwork and do some carpentry crafts on the side to get some experience using different tools and making pieces that fit my style and could possibly be used in future home designs!

I've always been a crafty person and I actually used to paint and sell rocks when I was a kid. And I used to paint wood signs and give them to family member on special occasions. But I want to bring my game up a notch this summer and start building furniture and other home decor pieces.



The way you decorate your home can say a lot about you. Same as if you keep your home clean or not. Each person has their own style and what you put in your home can change the way it feels and can create different moods. Whether you use light woods or dark woods, paint the walls white vs blue, adding fun trim or wall paper. Each thing can make the home unique and personal to you!

     Drawings    As you can see with my drawings above, architecture school isn't all about drawing floor plans and coloring building elevations, there is actually a lot more to the process than I thought there would be. For your first year of school you really just learn about the basics, and some things felt really basic. With the drawings above you can see that they are very different, and the one on the left I never thought I'd be able to draw. With the drawing on the right it felt super basic to me and was confused why we had to drawing cubes, I learned how to draw these in middle school and didn't see why it helped. But the more I learned I realized there was a process, and each thing we drew had a bigger meaning and would lead to something better in the future.  With these cubes we learned how to shade, how to create shadows that made the cubes feel real and 3D, and how to add on to make figures. Majoring in Architecture

With being an architecture student, I have a lot of time consuming projects and assignments.  This is my third year of college and my third semester of being an architecture student. For those of you who have already been in college know that it is definitely a big step up from high school. More assignments, harder classes, harder to make friends, more time consuming classes, and the list could go on.  So for those of you who are thinking about getting into architecture I have a few tips to help you in your first year. The architecture classes you take right away will be drawing based. So if you really hate drawing it'll be a bit of a hustle for you.
