Types of Residential Architecture

Residential Architecture is by far my favorite. Looking at different homes and how they're designed just makes me happy, each home has unique features and you can do so many different things when designing your home. However, lots of cities build residential neighborhoods where all the homes look the same or they have no design elements and are just built poorly. I hope to some day change this and be able to create homes with meaning and functionality.

Building a house is one things, but building a home is what really makes someone look forward to being in their house. Giving it design and color, creating spaces that fit a families needs, and maybe adding a few fun elements like secret rooms, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, porch swings, kitchen pantries, and the list goes on.

My personal favorite are modern farmhouses. As well as modern Scandinavian, contemporary country, and rustic modern ranch homes. These just feel the most like me and I love the use of wood and brick. They also use simple colors like black, white, and creams to make the house more neutral. I can't wait to take more classes and learn more about residential homes and be able to be apart of designing them one day!
